There’s been a lot of talk in recent weeks that burgeoning pop sensation Ariana Grande is a bit of a diva.
Her recent Australian publicity tour attracted headlines for all the wrong reasonsamid allegations of difficult behaviour — and it seems the Problem singer’s prickly attitude wasn’t just confined to her visit down under.
Now, E! host Giuiliana Rancic has come forward to add her name to the list of Ariana Grande Diva Behaviour Survivors.
Rancic, who’s been up close and personal with just about every celebrity in Hollywood thanks to her regular stints as red carpet interviewer, revealed she was shocked by a run-in with Grande at the American Music Awards, regarding the singer’s preference to be shot from one side of her face.

“I think she does have a little bit of a diva thing going on. I don’t know if that’s just part of the image she wants out there, like ‘I’m a young Mariah, I’m a diva,’ because I remember, I think it was at the AMAs, she came up on the platform, and normally I stand on this side [her left side] to the camera — I had to fight 13 years to get this side to the camera, it’s my good side, but I fought 13 years for this, OK?” she said.
“Little Ariana comes over, I feel an elbow in my side, I’m like ‘what’s going on?’ and they push me to the other side. So I had to be on my ugly side. I felt like it’s one thing if it’s Mariah, you know — I’ll get on any side, I’ll bend down, I’ll climb a ladder, whatever it takes to get Mariah to do an interview.
But when you’re new on the block, when you’re trying to earn your stripes, you’re young, you just gotta do what you gotta do, try to get a great reputation, try to go overboard to please people.”
We love how matter-of-factly Rancic states that, Mariah Carey tells you to do something, you do it — sensible woman.
We have to wonder, though: Does everyone in Hollywood have a complex about showing one side of their face on camera? What exactly are these people hiding?
