Twenty One Pilots performed to another sold-out crowd at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on Friday night, giving audiences plenty of reasons to love the electric-youth band.
The duo, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun who hail from Columbus, Ohio, have earned widespread applause for their energetic live sets and distinctive fusion of piano-driven schizoid pop and lyrical uplift. No strangers to the road, Twenty One Pilots has built a fervent national following via their electrifying live performances at their many headline shows and tours.
The Indie rockers brought plenty of ruckus with their hard-hitting, rap-infused jams. Whether lead singer Tyler Joseph is spitting heavy flows on “Holding On To You” or Josh Dun is hammering out a drum solo of their radio hit “House of Gold”, the duo knows how to put on an animated, passionate live performance every time.
The crowd was teeming with excitement even before the duo hit the stage. The energy in the arena was contagious.
Wearing ski masks like they were dressed to rob a liquor store… all they stole were plenty of hearts during their high energy, rapturous two-hour set.
With a dynamic sound that blends elements of hip hop, hard rock, and pop, Twenty One Pilots gave fans plenty to cheer about at their packed live show.
After hyping up fans even more with a chill-inducing light show soundtracked by the intro to their 2015 single “Fairly Local”, Joseph and drummer Josh Dun kicked off the show with “Heavydirtysoul”, the opener to their breakout Blurryface album.
Die hard fans Lucinda Jennings and Tarsha Phillips thought the concert was absolutely fantastic. “The clique went insane when we saw our boys… we all screamed when spooky asked for more… will definitely go down as one of the best nights of our life.”
The guys continued the adrenaline rush with “Migraine” and “Hometown”, followed by “Heathens” from the Suicide Squad Soundtrack. My personal favourite, “House of Gold” turned into a sing-a-long that echoed through the stadium.
With their poetic lyrics, driving music, and amazing stage presence, Twenty One Pilots never fail to deliver unforgettable performances for their fans every time.
