Australian actress Margot Robbie could play the real-life version of Barbie in a film based around the Mattel toy, according to leaked Sony emails.
In exchanges, which date back to March of last year, Robbie is picked as the frontrunner to play the blonde toy with Sandra Bullock, Amy Schumer and Amy Adams among the suggestions for her potential sidekick.
‘As far as who would play Barbie probably an ingenue. I like Margot Robbie, for instance,’ Doug Belgrad, the president of Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group, writes.
Producer Laurie MacDonald, (Gladiator, Men In Black) also backed Robbie for the lead in an email to former Sony boss Amy Pascal.
‘She is Barbie come to life – she’d be great,’ she writes.
